Winter!

After school today I had to head to the office to deal with dreaded shipping details. The whole ordeal took so long it ended right smack dab in the middle of rush hour traffic. When I called the taxi company I was given a 1.5 hour waiting time. It was then that I decided to walk home. I was quite surprised at how "ok" I was with the opportunity to be out in the fresh air (-15 degrees) for the 25 minutes it would take me to get to my destination. I walked along with cell phone in hand (for directions) and contentedly hummed the song, "Let it go" from the movie Frozen adding emphasis to the line "The cold doesn't bother me anyway!" It was about halfway through my journey that my foot hit a uneven patch of road and I ended up face first, spread eagle on the ground followed by a searing pain in the palms of both hands. At first all I could do was lay there staring at the pavement just inches from my face, but soon I was able get up and brush myself off. Examining my hands I found small skin tears caked with dirt and snow. All I knew now was that I hurt and I just wanted to get to my apartment. It was then that I looked up and saw my name shining bright white in the sky ahead of me. And I was grateful to almost be home. You see, my building is connected to the Delta Hotel. Once home I stripped off my winter garb and began to doctor my hands all the while realizing the increasing stiffness in both shoulders. How sad it was that my most pleasant walk turned into such a wretched one. Our lives can change in the blink of an eye and It didnt take long for my lovely winter stroll to turn into a painful display of pancake Delta plastered to the road. At this tragic turn of events some may ask me if I still love the cold, frozen weather of winter and to this I reply, "The cold doesn't bother me anyway". Winter still holds whimsical wonderment in my eyes. The white snow coats even the most ugliest of surfaces and its sparkling whiteness reflects all the twinkling lights and decorations on display for the season. I love it and always will!
